Baylor's return to No. 1 in the AP women's basketball poll is notable for two reasons

Baylor's rise to No. 1 again in the AP women's basketball poll was notable for what it said about this season's team -- and the timing in-between.

The Lady Bears (17-1) moved into the top spot Monday after Notre Dame fell at North Carolina.

It marked the first time that Baylor had been No. 1 in the AP poll since March 18, 2013, nearly six years ago. Back then, Baylor was just removed from a 40-0 season in 2011-12 that ended with an NCAA title in Denver. Brittney Griner was the most dominant player in women's basketball and Odyssey Sims was one of the nation's top guards.
