Nearly three years to the day after being fired at Baylor following a sexual assault scandal involving the football program, Art Briles is back coaching in Texas.
In a press release Friday evening ahead of the Memorial Day weekend, Mount Vernon High School announced that Briles had received a two-year contract from the ISD board of Trustees and will coach the football team this fall. During a Skype session with Briles, who is currently coaching club football in Italy, and current Mount Vernon players and fans, superintendent of schools Jason McCullough said the school board voted 7-0 to hire Briles.
