After 10 long years, it was punter Sam Koch’s first Pro Bowl. So he blew it out.
Koch paid for nearly all of the 21 family members who flew out to Hawaii for the week.
Thus, count Koch especially tickled that his squad, Team Irvin, defeated Team Rice, 49-27, in Sunday’s Pro Bowl from Aloha Stadium.
The difference in bonuses between the Pro Bowl winners and losers is $29,000. The winners get $58,000.
“It’s huge,” Koch said. “This trip is not cheap.”
Koch was joined in the winner’s circle by teammate Marshal Yanda, who blocked for a whopping amount of offense with 49 points and 503 total yards.
