OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- This draft is not only the most important ones in recent memory for the Baltimore Ravens. It's also an opportunity to restore the Ravens' reputation.
The Ravens became the gold standard after selecting 17 Pro Bowl players in the first 13 drafts in franchise history. But in the last seven drafts, Baltimore has only drafted one Pro Bowl player (linebacker C.J. Mosley).
"I would say it's not up my standards, not up to [assistant general manager Eric DeCosta's] standards and not up to the Ravens' standards when you compare what we did early on," general manager Ozzie Newsome said Tuesday at the team's pre-draft news conference.
