When Championship Sunday began, we had a 75% chance of setting up a Super Bowl matchup that we have seen before, as Rams-Patriots (XXXVI), Seahawks-Broncos (XLVIII), and Seahawks-Patriots (XLIX) have all already graced Big Game Sunday. Broncos-Rams was the only potential new clash.
However, we ended up with a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII, which we all remember as the “Why didn’t you give Marshawn the ball?!” game. It is the Super Bowl of the reimagined path. Sam Darnold went from being a first-round bust with the New York Jets to leading the exciting Seahawks offense to the Super Bowl eight years later.
