NFL Fines Thomas For Hit On Steelers QB Rudolph

The National Football League fined Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas $21,000 for the hit that knocked out Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, Jamison Hensley, a contributor to WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5, reports for ESPN.

Thomas told Hansley he reached out to Rudolph by phone and text message but never heard back. He said he wanted Rudolph to know he wasn't trying to hurt him. Thomas' helmet struck Rudolph's chin, sending the quarterback down in a heap. Thomas was later flagged for roughing the passer.

Thomas said he intends to appeal.
