Yovani Gallardo shows himself to be an evolved pitcher in Orioles debut win over Twins

Yovani Gallardo arrived in Baltimore with the promise of giving the Orioles rotation exactly what it needed: a veteran arm that could consistently get deep into games.

In his Orioles debut Wednesday night at a frigid Camden Yards, Gallardo’s performance – at least on the surface – was much like the ones fans have come to see from the club's starting pitching far too often over the past few years.

Gallardo won his Orioles debut, allowing just one run on two hits, striking out four and walking three. But he lasted just five innings, pulled after 89 pitches in the Orioles’ 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
