Under Armour Backs Out Of Deal To Make MLB Uniforms

Under Armour won't be making Major League Baseball's on-field uniforms starting in 2020 as originally planned.

SportsBusiness Daily reports that the Baltimore-based athletic wear titan's recent financial headaches made the MLB deal unworkable. An industry source told the publication that Under Armour will save around $50 million by not going ahead with the plans.

Instead, Nike is reportedly close to a deal to get their logo on the new uniforms, with Fanatics producing the retail versions. Pennsylvania-based Majestic currently makes both the on-field and retail uniforms.

The ink on the Nike deal could be dry by the All-Star Game in July.
