Steve Pearce is playing left field and batting third for Triple-A Bowie on Sunday afternoon after going 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a hit-by-pitch for the Baysox on Saturday.
There was a possibility that Pearce — recovering from a left oblique injury — could leave Sunday’s game in Bowie to join the Orioles for their charter flight to Kansas City on Sunday night, but that won’t happen now.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said it’s imperative that Pearce test his oblique for a full nine innings before being activated by the big league club. He played seven on Saturday and also came out of games early when rehabbing with Gulf Coast League Orioles earlier this week.
