ARLINGTON -- Though he's only been with the Orioles for nine games, Mark Trumbo has impressed Buck Showalter with his studious approach to hitting, the manager said Friday. Launching three homers in four games tends to catch a skipper's eye, too.
Trumbo hit a solo shot off Cole Hamels on Thursday night in the Orioles' loss to the Rangers. Trumbo is 5-for-15 (.333) in his career against Hamels, with two homers. That's no small accomplishment against a pitcher of Hamels' stature, and the amount of homework Trumbo does on his opponents might be one reason for that success.
