BALTIMORE -- For Rule 5 Draft pick Joey Rickard, it didn't matter where his name was in the lineup on Monday. It was enough to just run down the orange carpet as the Orioles' Opening Day left fielder.
"It doesn't matter to me [where I hit]," said Rickard, who slotted in at No. 9. "This is a dream. I'll be excited wherever I'm at."
Rickard, the Orioles' feel-good story this spring, played his way into a starting spot after an impressive Grapefruit League campaign. He left 10 tickets for Monday's opener and said the other half of his family is coming later in the week.
