Retired Orioles Broadcaster Joe Angel Reflects On Career

When Rick Sutcliffe pitched a complete game shutout in the Baltimore Orioles' first game at Camden Yards, when Delmon Young hit the double heard throughout the mid-Atlantic, when the Orioles ended a lengthy playoff drought, and when the Orioles shocked baseball by following up a season of historic futility with the 1989 "Why Not?" team, it was Joe Angel bringing it to radio listeners.

For the moments of Orioles Magic that follow, it will be somebody else's voice reaching out to Orioles fans on the radio. Angel, who spent 19 seasons with the Orioles across three separate stints with the team, announced his retirement last week after 42 years in broadcasting.
