The Baltimore Orioles traded right-handed pitcher Spenser Watkins to the Houston Astros on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.
The Astros optioned Watkins to its Triple-A affiliate Sugar Land following the trade.
Watkins, 30, had only pitched for the Orioles Triple-A affiliate Norfolk this season. He had a 7.27 earned run average and 20 strikeouts in eight games played.
Through two seasons in the majors, Watkins had a 5.85 earned run average and 98 strikeouts through 39 games played. He has a win/loss record of 7-13.
