Orioles trade Charlie Morton to Tigers

The Orioles got one last trade in under the wire before the trade deadline passed. This time, it’s one of their starting pitchers on the move, with MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reporting that Charlie Morton is being traded to the Tigers. According to MLB.com’s Jake Rill, the Orioles are receiving lefty relief prospect Micah Ashman from Detroit.

You could easily make the case that the bust-level performance in April from Morton is a large part of why the Orioles ended up being in a sell-off position in July. Mike Elias signed Morton - who at 41 years old is one day younger than me - after a solid-not-spectacular 2024 season.
