Orioles to meet with Scott Boras today at winter meetings

Among the meetings the Orioles expect to have at the winter meetings today will be one with agent Scott Boras, according to an industry source.

Boras, who represents free-agent slugger Chris Davis, already had a face-to-face meeting regarding Davis with managing partner Peter Angelos this offseason in Baltimore. It’s well known that Orioles ownership has put retaining Davis atop its priority list, but the club is uncomfortable entering any deal that could reach the $150 million to $175 million range.

Talk will not only likely focus on Davis. Boras represents a few other free agents the Orioles are interested in, including nontendered first baseman Pedro Alvarez and former Washington Nationals outfielder Denard Span.
