The Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays proved on Wednesday night that a close game doesn’t necessarily have to be exciting.
Both teams plodded through an evening that featured a funny-looking pitching duel between veteran starters Ubaldo Jimenez and R.A. Dickey and an extended battle of the bullpens before the Orioles finally scored a 10-inning, 4-3 victory before 15,404 at Camden Yards.
The ending was a bit dramatic, but it had to be since it was a sudden-death situation. The Orioles loaded the bases on a double by Caleb Joseph, an infield single by Joey Rickard and a walk to Manny Machado to bring Adam Jones to the plate before Joseph streaked home on a passed ball by Jays catcher Josh Thole.
