Orioles recap: Chris Tillman outduels Chris Archer as Birds power past Rays for 6-1 win

Right-hander Chris Tillman didn’t take the mound with the same kind of stuff that went to waste on Opening Day, but he rebounded from a rocky first inning to outduel Tampa Bay Rays ace Chris Archer in the Orioles’ 6-1 victory on Friday night at Camden Yards.

The Orioles have opened the season with four straight victories or better for the eighth time in club history and the first time since 2011.

Tillman, who struck out five of the six batters he faced in the home opener against the Minnesota Twins, allowed three hits and a walk in the first inning against the Rays, but a mammoth home run by Evan Longoria turned out to be the only run the Orioles starter would surrender over five innings of work.
