The Orioles brought in veteran right-hander Yovani Gallardo this spring to help stabilize a questionable starting rotation, and he didn’t waste any time showing that he is capable of doing just that.
Gallardo made his Orioles debut on Wednesday night and gave up just two hits over five innings to get the decision in a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins before 12,622 shivering fans at Camden Yards.
He threw 89 pitches — 52 of them for strikes — and struck out four before giving way to a parade of effective Orioles relievers.
