Orioles recap: Birds' rally falls short in 4-3 loss to Blue Jays

The Orioles needed some length from starting pitcher Mike Wright Tuesday night and he gave them solid six innings in the opener of a three-game series against the defending division champion Toronto Blue Jays.

That would not, however, be enough to hold off the Jays with Toronto ace Marcus Stroman pitching a stronger seven innings on the way to a 4-3 victory before 16,783 at Oriole Park.

Wright delivered a quality start, giving up three runs on six hits. He struggled with his command in the second inning and walked two straight hitters to set up a run-scoring groundout by Ryan Goins, then allowed a two-out, two-run double to Troy Tulowitzki in the third.
