Orioles prospect Chris Lee, without going to secondary pitches, shows big development in 2016 debut

Orioles left-handed pitching prospect Chris Lee’s first start of 2016 for Double-A Bowie was nearly as good as anything he’s done since he came to the organization last May. Just as interesting as those results is how he earned them.

Lee almost exclusively used his fastball-cutter combo to pitch 6 1/3 innings Monday against Erie. He tired in his final inning and allowed a two-run home run that ended his night.

An outing where he used his slider and changeup more might have presented a more complete picture of the athletic lefty who is on the Orioles’ 40-man roster and is a sleeper candidate to contribute in the major lLeague rotation as early as this year.
