The Baltimore Orioles have selected the contract of prospect Heston Kjerstad.
Kjerstad, 24, will make his first appearance in the majors Thursday night when the Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays. He will wear No. 13.
Kjerstad was ranked 24th on the MLB's 2023 prospect list. He was the Orioles' No. 3 prospect.
The left-handed batter spent most of the 2023 season at Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. Kjerstad had a batting average of .303, with 21 home runs and 55 runs batted in.
Kjerstad was the No. 2 overall pick by Baltimore in the 2020 MLB draft out of Arkansas.
