The Baltimore Orioles have selected the contract of prospect Heston Kjerstad.
Kjerstad, 24, will make his first appearance in the majors Thursday night when the Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays. He will wear No. 13.
The call-up comes one day after first baseman Ryan Mountcastle was pulled from a game with left shoulder discomfort. He was set to have an on MRI Thursday to determine the extent of the injury.
Kjerstad was ranked 24th on the MLB's 2023 prospect list. He was the Orioles' No. 3 prospect.
The left-handed batter spent most of the 2023 season at Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk.
