While first baseman Chris Davis and third baseman Manny Machado returned to the starting lineup for the Orioles' afternoon series finale at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, the team still wasn’t at full strength.
Center fielder Adam Jones, who left Wednesday’s game in the bottom of the eighth inning with back spasms, was not in the starting lineup. And neither was outfielder Joey Rickard, who suffered a right thumb injury Wednesday but played the whole game.
Catcher Matt Wieters remained out of starting lineup, missing his third straight game with a bruised right foot.
Wieters said before Thursday’s game that he’s still dealing with swelling and soreness in his foot after being hit by a 94-mph fastball Monday.
