As expected, the Orioles placed infielder Tim Beckham on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday because of a left groin strain suffered while running the bases Monday night. The move was made retroactive to Tuesday.
The team added infielder Jace Peterson to the 25-man roster after claiming him off waivers from the New York Yankees on Tuesday and he’s in Wednesday’s lineup.
Peterson, 27, didn’t arrive in Baltimore until Tuesday evening, so the rainout allowed the team to make the moves seamlessly before Wednesday’s game.
Beckham suffered the groin injury while running to first during an eighth-inning single in the Orioles’ series-finale loss to the Cleveland Indians.
