In his fifth start for the Norfolk Tides, right-hander Luis Ortiz contained the Bulls for 5.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and four strikeouts. He now has a 3.04 ERA. But Ortiz missed out on the win after reliever Evan Phillips surrendered a pair of runs in the eighth to take the loss.
The Tides’ offense fell short in this one, going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and leaving six men on base. They had one walk and 13 strikeouts on the night. Norfolk’s only offense came on a pair of home runs.
