Rylan Bannon’s bat and Keegan Akin’s arm helped make this an easy night for the Tides. Bannon hit a grand slam and scored two runs, and Akin struck out seven in six innings while allowing only two hits and one run to improve to 6-7 for the year.
Dwight Smith Jr. and Engelb Vielma each had a pair of hits for Norfolk, while Mark Trumbo had a double and two RBI. Hunter Cervenka and Tanner Scott worked 1.2 and 1.1 innings, respectively, of scoreless relief.
It was a field day for everyone in a Bowie uniform, as the Baysox led 2-0 after the top of the first, 8-2 after four, and were never threatened from there.
