Orioles minor league recap 7/23: Bowie just misses no-hitter, dominates in doubleheader

Bowie blanked the Flying Squirrels in the first game of an abridged doubleheader. Bruce Zimmermann started for the Baysox and pitched all seven innings. Zimmermann, who came to Baltimore in the Kevin Gausman trade with Atlanta, allowed five hits and struck out four. He did not walk a batter, and lowered his ERA to 2.58 on the season.

Bowie took the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, and added three more in the seventh. The Baysox struck first on a Mason McCoy single to center field, and added another run on a Cedric Mullins sacrifice fly.
