Orioles minor league recap 7/18: Jahmai Jones homers, Delmarva wins again, and Aberdeen and Bowie get rained out

The Tides were down in a 3-0 hole after a short start by Kevin Smith, who’s having a bit of a rough adjustment to Triple-A hitters. Smith (1-2, 5.00 ERA) threw 33 pitches in the first inning, walking three while only retiring two batters. He allowed just one hit in his 0.2 innings of work, but it was a two-run single following a sac fly, and would end his appearance. More effective in relief was Mickey Jannis, who threw 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball.

The deficit was cut to 3-1 in the sixth inning when everybody’s favorite infield prospect, Jahmai Jones homered against the Cardinals’ No.
