The Tides ended up on the wrong end of this butt-kicking in large part thanks to their starting pitcher, Raúl Alcantara, pulling a no-outer while managing to allow eight runs. That was four hits, two walks, two hit batters, and the reliever allowed all three runners to score after he left the game with the bases loaded. One might get the sense that the organization could better utilize this spot in its Triple-A rotation. Double-A has guys who’ve earned the bump to me.
Norfolk’s defense also stunk here, with three errors allowed. One of these was committed by Coby Mayo, his fifth error of the year already.
