Renowned surgeon James Andrews read the results of Orioles catcher Matt Wieters’ MRI on his sore right elbow, which the Alabama-based doctor performed Tommy John surgery on in 2014, and affirmed that all was structurally sound.
“That’s good news,” manager Buck Showalter said.
Wieters, who left Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins after feeling tightness in his elbow after a throw to second base on a stolen base attempt, hasn’t played since but has said every day feels better than the last.
He said Wednesday that he was doing “every baseball activity I can that doesn’t involve pitching or hitting,” which essentially limited him to doing drills on blocking balls.
