Orioles All-Star shortstop Manny Machado was ejected from Tuesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals after charging the mound and landing a punch on pitcher Yordano Ventura, who hit him with a pitch in the fourth inning at Camden Yards.
Both benches cleared as fights broke out across the infield, including in a pile-up on the mound with Machado and Ventura at the center of it.
Machado and Ventura had exchanged words during his previous at-bat in the second inning. Machado was buzzed by an inside pitch from Ventura, then admired a fly ball into left field that came up short of the wall.
