A day after introducing new General Manager Mike Elias, the Baltimore Orioles announced the club's new assistant general manager.
Analytics guru Sig Mejdal will become the club's new assistant general manager for analytics, reporting to Elias, who he followed from the Houston Astros.
Mejdal will oversee the club's analytics efforts and advise Elias.
“Sig Mejdal is one of the most experienced and accomplished analysts working in baseball today,” Elias said in a statement. “To have him join our Orioles organization is a major moment for this franchise, and I look forward to him charting the course for all of our forthcoming efforts in the analytics space.
