Orioles designate left-handed reliever Wesley Wright for assignment

The Orioles activated left-hander Wesley Wright from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday and then immediately designated the veteran reliever for assignment, all but ending his short and injury-plagued stint with the club.

Wright, who signed a one-year, $1.7-million contract with the Orioles in December, made just two appearance with the team before going on the disabled list with a left trapezius strain. He posted a 5.40 ERA, allowing one run on two hits over 1 2/3 innings.

He was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 11 and then was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 24.
