Orioles' Adam Jones, J.J. Hardy both sitting with injuries Friday

Orioles outfielder Adam Jones on Friday downplayed the rib injury that has kept him out of the starting lineup twice in the first four games of the season, saying it’s not an oblique injury as some suggested but that it feels “a lot better than yesterday.”

Manager Buck Showalter said Jones and shortstop J.J. Hardy, who is sitting out with calf tightness, could be available off the bench Friday. But given the nature of their injuries, the cold weather, and the potential that weather might give the whole team Saturday off, Showalter said it was easier to keep them out.
