O'Day goes on disabled list with shoulder strain

SAN FRANCISCD -- Orioles right-hander Darren O'Day, who felt discomfort in his right shoulder while pitching in Oakland on Thursday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a rotator cuff strain.

O'Day, who returned from a right hamstring strain July 24, received a cortisone shot.

"It was as sore today as it has been," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said before Saturday's game against the Giants. "He was adamant about not going on the DL when he left, but he doesn't want to leave the bullpen short. I'm confident we can get this resolved.
