MLB season unlikely to start on time due to lockout

With spring training scheduled to start this month, the beginning of the Major League Baseball season looks like it will be delayed due to the ongoing lockout imposed by the owners.

Negotiations have not been going well as recently the players union recently rejected the request of a federal mediator by the owners, which further delays a labor agreement. This means that there is a very slim chance that opening day happens as scheduled.

There are many issues that the players and ownership cannot agree on, but there seem to be three points of emphasis that both sides are not willing to budge.
