MLB expected to suspend operations indefinitely due to coronavirus

On Wednesday night, the spread of the coronavirus pandemic touched the world of American professional sports when a Utah Jazz player tested positive for the virus. The NBA suspended its season before the night was out. Hockey followed today, and more relevant to Orioles fans, baseball will soon be following suit.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and others reported on Thursday afternoon that an ownership-level conference call is ongoing and at its conclusion it’s expected that MLB will be suspending operations indefinitely. This includes spring training games, though it’s not yet clear exactly what impact will be had on the regular season.
