Mike Mussina Elected To Baseball Hall Of Fame

Former Orioles pitcher Mike Mussina was elected Tuesday to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Mussina was enshrined in his sixth year on the ballot. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, July 21, in Cooperstown, New York.

He joins former Orioles teammates Harold Baines and Lee Smith, who were voted in last month by the Today's Game Committee. The rest of this year's class will include Mariano Rivera, Roy Halladay and Edgar Martinez.

Mussina was 39 when he retired after going 20-8 in 2008 and becoming the oldest first-time 20-game winner. He was 270-153 with 2,813 strikeouts in 18 seasons for Baltimore and the Yankees, and had he remained active he had a chance to reach 300 wins and 3,000 strikeouts.
