Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was named co-American League Player of the Week on Monday.
Oakland’s Sean Manaea, who threw the season’s first no-hitter on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, shared the honor with Machado for the week ending Sunday.
Machado batted .500 on the week, with five homers and eight RBIs. Over that stretch, he recorded two multi-homer games – Thursday in Detroit and Sunday at home against Cleveland – but both games were Orioles losses.
This is the fourth time in Machado’s career he’s earned AL Player of the Week honors, most recently last Aug.
