Hardy rests sore groin amid slump

"We've seen J.J. Hardy hit 30 home runs in a year. We've seen him do other things. He's spoiled us with a level that he's not at [this] moment," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "It's there. We're just trying to get to it."

Ryan Flaherty started at shortstop, battting ninth.

"Trying to see if we can get [Hardy] some help clearing [the injury] up," Showalter said, adding that Hardy was available off the bench.

Though he took some positives from his plate appearances in Saturday's 3-2 loss, Hardy admitted, "I haven't been feeling great in the box.
