Even if each unbelievable statistic stems from injuries that at one point seemed to derail his career, Orioles reliever Dylan Bundy always manages to smile at them. First, it was astonishment that he had gone 1,290 days between major league appearances.
On Thursday, it was the surprise that in his fifth appearance of the season and the seventh of his career, Bundy recorded his first strikeout in the majors.
“Yeah, that’s true,” Bundy said. “It’s been four years to get one strikeout in the majors. It’s been a while. But it was nice to get that out of the way.
