Baltimore Orioles Land Their Brand New Shortstop In Jose Iglesias

Well, this Monday late-afternoon just got a lot more interesting! Per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Baltimore Orioles have signed free agent shortstop Jose Iglesias to a contract.

According to Feinsand the deal is a one-year contract worth $3 million with a club option for 2021 worth another $3.

SS Jose Iglesias has agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Orioles, per source. Deal includes a 2021 club option that would make the deal worth $6 million over two years.

Baltimore seemed like a likely landing spot for the former Cincinnati Reds shortstop early on this offseason, but reports of the Orioles having done previous homework on Iglesias and finding him not to be a clubhouse fit surfaced and much of the attention turned to free agent shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria.
