Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is out of the starting lineup for the club’s third regular season game on Thursday with soreness in his rib area, manager Buck Showalter said.
“He wants to play, he said he’s fine and probably is not too happy with the old manager right now,” Showalter said. “I just thought it would be smart to give him a day."
Jones was visibly in discomfort after striking out during his final at-bat of Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.
“The only time it was a challenge for him was the last at-bat.
