Why ex-Central star John Peckinpaugh left Fort Wayne for D2 Wheeling Jesuit

MUNCIE, Ind. — John Peckinpaugh had an itch to become a head coach again.

The former Muncie Central star got his first taste of leading a program with a successful three-year run at Indiana Tech of the NAIA before making the jump to Fort Wayne last year as an assistant.

Then this job at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia became available, and it was very attractive to Peckinpaugh for several reasons. First and foremost, it's another head coaching opportunity. Plus, he has always been a fan of Division II basketball, a level he has envisioned himself coaching at.
