Why Ball State football didn’t waver from deciding to play in a bowl game

MUNCIE, Ind. — Drew Plitt remembers what it was like to be home in December, around Christmas, and not be playing football.

Ball State’s redshirt senior quarterback has had friends reach bowl games. The Ohio native has seen others be able to celebrate their seasons in that fashion. The past four years, he’s been forced to watch people continue their campaigns while his seasons ended in November.

So, although there are programs across the country this year that have decided they wouldn’t participate in bowl games, that didn’t happen at Ball State. After a year that has led the Cardinals to a Mid-American Conference championship, Plitt and his teammates are focused on embracing whatever comes next.
