MUNCIE, Ind. — After Delta’s 35-0 loss Sept. 18 against Mt. Vernon, there were two compounding issues facing coach Chris Overholt’s football team.
First, because of how hard starting running back and senior JaVaughn Whitfield ran against Marauders and how he “took a beating,” according to Overholt, Overholt thought Whitfield could use a week off. And second, Delta’s offense needed a spark after the Eagles scored just 14 points combined in two weeks — the lowest total in back-to-back weeks for an Overholt squad.
So over the weekend Overholt and his offensive staff sat down and talked about what they’d been missing.
