Wapahani pitcher Zack Thompson makes first MLB start, BSU's Griffith named All-American

MUNCIE, Ind. — Wednesday was a special night for Zack Thompson and Delaware County baseball.

The former Wapahani left-handed pitcher made his first MLB start, tossing five innings for the St. Louis Cardinals in their 7-5 home win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Thompson earned a no decision, allowing seven hits, five earned runs and two walks with two strikeouts in 92 pitches.

The 24-year-old cruised through the first four frames, allowing just one run before running into trouble in the fifth inning when Pirates notched three singles and a three-run homer.
