MUNCIE, Ind. — As the first players emerged from Wapahani's locker room tucked underneath the bleachers at Worthen Arena, they stood out in the hallway in silence, waiting for the rest of their teammates to join them.
It wasn't until everyone was ready when the Raiders began to walk back to their team bus and head back to Selma as the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 2A state runner-up for the second straight year.
Wapahani, ranked No. 3 in 2A, lost in straight sets to No. 1 Barr-Reeve 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 in the state final. The loss marked the end of an incredible postseason run that saw Wapahani survive a pair of five-set thrillers against Alexandria in the sectional semifinal and an unforgettable come-from-behind win over Fairfield at semistate.
