Class 3A No. 1 Delta (26-0) hung on to beat New Castle 59-55 on the Trojans' home floor for its first sectional championship since 2011. The Eagles will play Tippecanoe Valley (15-9) at noon next Saturday in the Marion Regional semifinals.
Like the first time these teams met last month, Delta found itself trailing in the first half. New Castle led by nine and went into the half up 27-22. The Eagles tied it at the end of the third on a putback just before the buzzer, and opened the fourth on an 11-2 run to seize control.
