Takeaways from Ball State football’s MAC title victory against Buffalo

DETROIT — Ball State football traveled to Detroit to face Buffalo on Friday in the Mid-American Conference championship game, and will be leaving Ford Field with the MAC trophy in tow.

The Cardinals captured a 38-28 victory. They never trailed after gaining the lead late in the second quarter, even going into halftime up 14 points — 35-21 — after senior outside linebacker Christian Albright returned a fumble forced by redshirt junior inside linebacker Jimmy Daw for a touchdown. They scored the second-most points they had all season long, tying with the 38-point performance against Eastern Michigan, and held Buffalo (5-1) to its lowest point total of the season by far.
